Hemp wool

Hemp woolHemp wool is a material increasingly used in green houses' insulation and there are many reasons to do so: it is 100% natural, light, strong, easily posed and it provides great long term resistance. This insulator comes in panels, rolls or mattresses. It is not irritating when posed and it offers a genuine space saving compared to glass wool.

Hemp is naturally rot-resistant, which gives it excellent durability, antifungal, antibacterial and it also is a natural repellent for rodents of all kinds. Hemp, environmentally friendly throughout its manufacturing process, must be combined with fire retardants before its implementation. The addition of synthetic binders (polyester, polyolefins) or cotton may be useful to increase its resistance over time.

Its price is the only aspect that seems not so friendly: hemp wool costs three to four times more than glass wool.
