Sea rush is one of the three types of green floor coverings made of vegetable fiber. It is a thatch growing in fresh or sea water estuaries. Sea rush’s advantage is its resistant aspect, whether it is against wear or stain; it is almost waterproof when coated with a latex layer. There are two types of finishes: twisted or in chevron.
Sea rush fits to wet rooms like a bathroom or a kitchen because it needs to be moistened four to six times a year to avoid that the fibers become breakable and so to preserve its elasticity. Efficient ventilation is to be planned. Put in other dry rooms, a floor cloth soaked with water is enough to moisten it.
The price of sea rush varies from 7 to 40 Euros the square meter.
